Customize your workspace to show inboxes, tags, teammates, and more

Front makes it easy to customize what’s displayed in your individual and team workspaces. You can change what your counters show, and show/hide inboxes, tags, and teammates. Editing your individual and team workspace setup will impact only your personal view and does not change your teammates' workspaces.

Individual workspace options

Tags view

In your individual workspace titled Me on the top left corner, click on the plus sign. You will see the options to create a new tag and show/hide private tags or team tags

Counters view

To change the counter type of your individual inbox, click the gear icon on the top right of Front and into the Personal settings tab, then select Preferences. Scroll to the option for Inbox counters and use the dropdown to select Unread or Open inbox counters.

Team workspace options

Team inboxes view

You can curate the list of team inboxes that show on your navigation panel. Click on the plus sign next to the team name to select which team inboxes you want to display. Admins will be able to also create a new inbox from this menu.

Delegated inboxes view

You can choose which delegated inboxes you want to show or hide in your workspace panel. Click the gear icon on the top right of Front and into the Personal settings tab, then select Preferences. In the Delegated inboxes setting, use the dropdown menu to select which teammates you want to show or hide in your workspace. The teammates you select will now be displayed.

Teammates view

Customize the list of teammates that show by clicking the plus sign next to the Assigned conversations section at the bottom left of your navigation panel. You can select which teammates you want to show in this list so that you can quickly see their availability status and their assigned conversations.

Reorder your workspace

In addition to being able to pin and unpin the items that show in your workspace, you can furthermore customize the order of your inboxes and items for both your individual and your team workspaces.

To reorder, simply long-click on the inbox or item, drag it to where a blue line appears to indicate that you can drop it, and drop the item to its new location. Locations that you cannot move to will show as gray and will not display the blue lines.

You can drag and reorder almost all of your inboxes and items within each unique workspace, either individual or team:

However, you cannot drag and reorder:

  • Starred
  • Drafts
  • Sent
  • Items from one Team to another Team
  • Items from individual workspace to Team workspace, or vice versa
  • Entire individual or Team workspaces
  • Sub-items within delegated inboxes
  • On mobile

  • Is it possible to link a personal work email account to Front as well as the group email account so that individuals can access all of the mail addressed to their personal account as well as the emails assigned to them, without others having access to or sight of their personal work emails? Thanks

  • Rob Jones Hey! Absolutely. For personal accounts, set them up as individual inboxes. Here's some more information about them:

  • Cori Morris Cori Morris thanks!

  • This doesn't work. When I click the 3 dots to the right of Team inboxes it only shows the counter settings; there is no option to show or hide inboxes.

  • SPG Sorry about that. The show/hide option has moved to the "More >" menu. We will get this updated :-)

  • Ok thanks for this information, I got it to work now.

  • Is it possible to have the counters on each of my tags count only unread conversations rather than open conversations? I'm able to do this for my inbox but not for each of my tags. Thanks!

  • Megan Brown Hi there! Not at this time, but I'd be happy to share this feedback with the team.

  • Is there any feature like the one in Gmail to show tags on side only if there is any new open thread to take action? If not, are you planning to add this feature?

  • Mo That's a great suggestion. Right now those tags will always be present in your workspace, but I'll go ahead and raise this with our Product team to see if it is something we can implement in the future!
