Prebuilt Connectors
Overview
Prebuilt Connectors streamline the application object and application request setup processes. In just a few clicks, admins can quickly connect to popular tools and configure rules, macros, or chatbots to enhance team workflows.
You must have Front company admin permissions to set up a Connector. Once enabled, the Connector can be used by any teammate.
To build and customize your own Connector, see this article.
Part 1: Configure Connector
Step 1
Click the gear icon on the top right of Front and into the Company settings tab, and select App store from the left menu.
Step 2
Select a prebuilt Connector from the list of integrations, then click Enable app.
Step 3
Follow the in-app instructions to enable the Connector. In the Authentication tab, you will need to provide authentication credentials from your third-party application. See the Prebuilt Connectors section below for details.
Part 2: Configure workflows
Once your Connector is configured, you’ll need to enable a workflow using rules, macros, chatbots, etc. to take advantage of your Connector. See this article for example workflow builds. In this example, we’ll configure a rule.
Option 1: Add third-party data to Front
Create an application object rule to bring third-party data into Front and attach it to conversations.
Step 1
Click the gear icon on the top right of Front and into the Company settings tab, and select Rules and macros from the left menu.
Step 2
Click Create rule. In the rule library pop-up, select one of the templates in the Connect category, or create a rule from scratch.
In this example, we’ll select the Add third-party data template.
Step 3
You will see the rule template populated for you. Customize the rule by specifying the inbox the rule applies to, and add other triggers, conditions, or actions.
In the Add app objects action, select the Connector you configured from Part 1 above.
Step 4
Click Create when finished. Your rule will now trigger the Connector when the rule conditions are met.
Option 2: Take action in a third-party application
Create an application request rule to take action in a third-party application in response to events in Front.
Step 1
Click the gear icon on the top right of Front and into the Company settings tab, and select Rules and macros from the left menu.
Step 2
Click Create rule. In the rule library pop-up, select one of the templates in the Connect category, or create a rule from scratch.
In this example, we’ll select the Take action in third party template.
Step 3
You will see the rule template populated for you. Customize the rule by specifying the inbox the rule applies to, and add other triggers, conditions, or actions.
In the Send app request action, select the Connector you configured from Part 1 above.
Step 4
Click Create when finished. Your rule will now trigger the Connector when the rule conditions are met.
