Tag Outlook high priority emails with rules

Edited

Overview

When emails are marked as high priority or high importance in Outlook, this status is not automatically synced to Front. However, you can create a company tag and company rule with a dynamic variable to flag those emails in your Front inboxes.

You must be a Front company admin to create company tags and company rules.

Instructions

Part 1: Create company tag

Step 1

Click the gear icon on the top right of Front and select the Company tab in the left sidebar.

Step 2

Click Company tags, then click Add tag.

Step 3

Fill out the tag fields to create a high priority tag, then click Create when finished.

Part 2: Create company rule

Step 4

In the left sidebar, select Company rules, then click Create rule.

Step 5

Enter a name for your rule, then click Add dynamic variable.

The dynamic variable will be used to check the headers of an email for the fields like the "priority: high" indicator, as shown below.

Step 6

Click Start dynamic variable path. Under the "Extract message property" section, select Get header. Enter "priority" in the text box.

Step 7

Step 9

Repeat Step 6 to start another dynamic variable path. For this path, you'll include "Importance" in the field after selecting Get header:

Step 10

Add triggers, conditions, and actions to your rule. In this example, we want conversations to be tagged when inbound messages are received in all shared inboxes.

  • When: Inbound message is received

  • If:

    • Conversation is in any shared inbox

    • Compare dynamic variable [Get Priority Header] OR Compare dynamic variable [Get Importance Header]

  • Then: Add tag [Outlook - High Priority]

This rule will look like the following:

Step 11
