Languages supported in messages and composer
Overview
Front supports multiple languages when reading and composing messages.
How it works
Languages
Inbound messages: We are committed to supporting any language. Messages render in their original direction, including right-to-left (RTL) scripts (Hebrew, Arabic, Persian, Urdu, etc.) and bidirectional text within a single paragraph.
Composing outbound messages: We support all languages Front receives, including right-to-left (RTL) scripts.
Right-to-left composition: The composer adapts as you type.
Automatic direction: When you begin typing in an RTL language, the paragraph switches to right-aligned, right-to-left layout. A new paragraph in a left-to-right (LTR) language flips back automatically. Punctuation, numbers, and other neutral characters position themselves based on the surrounding text.
Manual override: A direction toggle in the formatting toolbar lets you force a paragraph to LTR or RTL when auto-detection isn't what you want.
Replies and forwards: Replying to an RTL message opens the composer in RTL so your first keystroke lands as expected. Forwards and quoted text preserve the direction of each block.
Signatures: Signatures render in the direction you set when authoring them, regardless of the surrounding message.
Block quotes: Block quotes display with the indentation bar on the correct side for both sender and recipient, including in Gmail and Outlook.
Known limitations
Tables are not yet mirrored under RTL — column order remains left-to-right inside the cell grid.
Placing the cursor by clicking immediately after an inline image or emoji inside an RTL paragraph may land on the wrong side. Arrow keys behave correctly.
Machine capabilities
The languages available in Front are subject to your operating system and browser's language display/input capabilities. If you are using Windows, you may need to install language packs in order to use your desired language in Front.
