How to transfer a shared inbox to a teammate (or vice versa)
Overview
You can transfer a shared inbox to a teammate and vice versa to move the inbox and conversation history to another workspace.
This is useful when:
A teammate mistakenly adds their personal inbox to a shared workspace
A teammate leaves your company and their conversations need to be shared with the team
How it works
Conversations and channels in the inbox will move.
Conversation participants, assignees, tags, and comments will be retained.
Conversation statuses:
For shared inbox → individual inbox: Archives conversations where the teammate isn’t a subscriber.
For individual inbox → shared inbox: Conversation statuses will be retained.
Tags:
Private and shared tags will remain in place on the conversation, even after the move.
Private and shared tags on the conversation will not be mapped/translated to existing tags in the destination workspace.
New tags will not be created in the destination workspace.
Rules:
Rules where the inbox is referenced in conditions will not be changed. The conditions will not be true anymore (because the inbox changed workspaces), but the rule will still work with no impact.
For shared inbox → individual inbox only: Rules that move conversations to the inbox (using the Mirror in inbox [in beta], Move to inbox, or Move message to a new conversation actions) will be deactivated. When viewing affected rules, you'll see a warning explaining why they are deactivated. We recommend updating these rules and selecting other shared inboxes.
Calendar (for Gmail/Office 365 sync):
For shared inbox → individual inbox: The teammate can access the inbox's calendar via Front Calendar.
For individual inbox → shared inbox: The teammate will not be able to use Front Calendar unless they have another channel connected to an individual inbox via Gmail/Office 365 sync.
