How to enable and use the HipChat integration
The HipChat integration allows you to define rules that automatically post Front messages as notifications to HipChat Rooms.
Like other integrations, you need to be an admin in order to enable the HipChat integration.
Part 1: Enable integration
Click the gear icon on the top right of Front and into the Company settings tab, and select Integrations from the left menu.
Select HipChat from the list of integrations. Click to the Settings tab and toggle on Enabled.
Log into HipChat to locate your Auth Token and Room ID in HipChat.
In order to find your Auth Token, you need admin access in HipChat.
Click the Group admin tab. You will only see this tab if you are logged in as a HipChat admin.
Enter your password, and click Submit.
Create a new token for Front. Use the dropdown to select Notification type. Give it any label you wish, but we suggest something like Front-integration. Then click Create.
Copy the token you created.
Go back to your HipChat settings in Front, and paste the token in the Auth Token field.
Next, you will need to locate the Room API ID for your default HipChat Room where Front messages will be sent. You will be able to specify different Rooms for messages to be sent to with Front rules, but this Room will serve as the default.
Going back to the HipChat homepage, select Rooms.
In the Room list, click the Room you would like Front to post.
Copy the Room API ID.
Go back to your HipChat settings in Front, and paste the Room ID in the Room ID field.
Click Save to finish enabling the HipChat integration.
Part 2: Create rule in Front
Create a new team rule and set up your When and If conditions.
For your Then condition, select Send to HipChat. You will be able to send a notification to a specific HipChat Room.
