How to enable and use the Linear integration

Overview

The Linear integration allows you to link new or existing Linear issues to conversations in Front. Once a Linear issue is linked to a Front conversation, you can easily access it directly from Front. Once a Linear issue is closed, conversations in Front will automatically be reopened so you can easily get back to your customers.

You must have Linear admin permissions to set up the integration.


Instructions

Admin steps

Step 1

From the Linear app, navigate to Settings, then Integrations, and then Front.

Step 2

On the Front application page, click Connect to begin the authentication flow with Front. This will allow Linear to automatically reopen conversations in Front once issues are resolved in Linear.

Step 3

Navigate back to Front. Click the gear icon on the top right of Front and into the Company settings tab, and select App store from the left menu.

Step 4

Select Linear from the list of integrations. Click See details, then click Enable app.

Step 5

The Linear plugin is now available for teammates in Front. Click Start using this app if you'd like to navigate to your app switcher and immediately begin using the plugin.

End-user steps

Step 1

In Front, navigate to your inbox and click the Linear icon in the app switcher in the right sidebar.

If you don't see the Linear icon, click the Manage icon and then find the Linear integration to pin it to your app switcher sidebar. If you still do not see the Linear integration in the list, contact your admin.

Step 2

Click Log in with Linear and enter your account credentials.

Step 3

Once logged in, you can use the plugin to create new Linear issues or attach existing ones to conversations in Front.

Once an issue is attached, you'll see a Link on the conversation that makes it easy to see which Linear issues are related to a conversation, and open them in Linear to see more details.
