[Customer Beta] Gmail and Office 365 permanent message deletion sync

Overview

To ensure the security and compliance of your email data, you have the option to turn on a one-way sync for permanent message deletions from Gmail/Office 365 to Front. This is useful if you’re using a tool to block and delete emails in Gmail/Office 365 and need those deletions reflected in Front. Messages deleted in Front will not sync back to Gmail/Office 365 at this time.

A permanent deletion sync will not occur if the two-way sync for the conversation is broken. The cases where status syncing will stop are explained here.

How it works

You may be using a variety of tools to ensure the security of your email data. Example tools include:

  1. Secure email gateways

  2. Data Loss Prevention (native Office 365 features or third parties like Darktrace)

  3. Microsoft Defender

When these tools detect potential risks they may block or delete emails in Gmail/Office 365. With Front’s permanent deletion sync, the deletions will sync over to Front to mirror the same protected state.

Once the conversations are deleted in Front, they cannot be restored. This feature will apply to all Gmail or Office 365 two-way sync channels connected to Front.
